The paintings
in this section have been created throughout the west, from Washington state
to some of my favorite locations in the Palm Springs-La Quinta area, and
east into Arizona. Each painting is different, never exactly the same, and what I
observe and select to paint determines the content of each particular
painting. Often, the painting has to do with the color of the light and the
shadows during a certain time, be it morning or afternoon. I am continually
fascinated by how colors
become so alive and beautiful with the changing light. The shapes and
textures of the vegetation, whether it be evergreens in the north or a smoke tree or creosote bush
in the desert, also add interesting elements to the image. There is so much
diversity in California and the west, incredibly beautiful visual experiences and
each scene a
delight to capture on canvas. |
