For many years, I have enjoyed the process of setting up a still life with a theme such as an elegant dinner setting or country picnic.  It is an excellent way to develop the skills in fine art that involve composition, drawing, and color.  As an Impressionist artist, I believe still life painting gives me the opportunity to experience different color harmonies.  I will  paint a skill life indoors in cool light, or I can also arrange and paint a still life outdoors in a plein air setting.  Indoors, the light is constant, and I may work on the arrangement for a longer time.  When I paint outdoors, I paint over a period of days, always at the same time to catch the direction of light and shadow.
